Pat Kelsey has over 25 years experience in the field of soil science, wetlands, and environmental
management. His responsibilities include overseeing soil, groundwater, and sediment studies for
a variety of private and public natural resources projects; providing scientific analysis and
coordination of environmental assessments for transportation and water resource projects; and
providing in-house technical assistance for wetland mitigation planning, regional geology,
groundwater resources, natural resource data acquisition, and water quality planning. Prior to
joining The Burke Group in 2000, Pat worked for The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois for 17
years where he maintained and operated the soil characterization laboratory. He earned his Master
of Science and a Bachelor of Science from Northern Illinois University. Pat has written numerous
scientific publications and is a member of the following organizations: Soil Science Society of
America, Illinois Soil Classifiers Association, International Society of Arboriculture, Illinois
Arborist Association, City of Chicago - Mayor Daley's Greenroof Committee, USDA/NRCS - IEPA,
Statewide Urban Community Assistance Committee, and the American Public Works Association.
